HERITAGE MANAGEMENT

During the 1995 season the site was visited by Dr Aylin Orbasli from the Conservation Practice in London. Dr Orbasli also met local and national officials regarding the development of the site as a heritage centre. The aim is to produce an initial working document which can be circulated for comment to all parties involved, especially local government and the Ankara General Directorate of Monuments and Museums. The report will concern preservation (eg ideas for a cover system for working under and for future presentation and open air museum purposes), arrangements for visitors (eg landscaping, access routes), buildings on the site, the short- and long-term planning of site development, and the possibilities for research and training programmes at Çatalhöyük.
